ELKAT Productions celebrates Smokin’ Word & Drum Open Mic Series’ 1-Year Anniversary Show, featuring Grammy-Winner, Poet Christopher “Chilo” Cajigas (of award-winning poetry troupe El Grito de Poetas), this Friday, July 24, 2015 (not the usual Saturday) from a NEW LOCATION at CONFETTI Party Place (3190 Westchester Ave) in the Bronx! Smokin’ Word & Drum, along with Hip-Hop, Spoken Word Artist “Chilo,” will be bringing you a show that is destined to leave you high off of entertainment.
Hosted by house band, Machete Movement.
With one of NYC’s HOTTEST spoken word artists, poets, and hip-hop musical performers, “Chilo,” on stage, there will be more than just a “buzz” in the air after this 1-Year Anniversary event. This show is sure to bring more artists out wanting to see how they, too, can get involved in “Smokin’ Word & Drum’s Open Mic Series” and have the poetry-lovers flocking in the doors to see more great artists.

One year ago, ELKAT Productions set out to produce an open mic that “stays true to what moves the heart and soul”, as their motto goes. What was born was a unique open mic series that featured real and talented poetic artists from around NYC. Month after month ELKAT Productions and hosts/house band, Machete Movement created a show like no other; while paying homage to the creativity and energy of each featured artist. Over the past year, Smokin’ Word & Drum promoted a variety of artists, but most importantly, they created a platform for poets, actors, musicians and comedians to showcase their art form on the open mic. We thank each and every one of you that came out and shared your gift with us all.
