Shafina Ahmed hosts (for the last time) Tsion Café’s Sugar Hill Beats Free Poetry Open Mic Series every first Thursday of the month at Tsion Café & Bakery. NO COVER. 7:00pm Open Mic list sign-up begins. Sign-up ends 7:45pm SHARP! Maximum of 15 poets/spoken word artists, 3 minutes each. First come, first serve. Show starts 8pm. Featured poet(s) goes on after Open Mic. Show ends at 10:00pm.

This FREE POETRY SPOKEN WORD OPEN MIC is only for poetry/spoken word. Refreshments and food will be available for purchase during the show. There is NO COVER, but a two-drink minimum is requested. Includes: teas, coffees, beverages, wine, and beer.

TERENCE DEGNAN is a poet in Brooklyn. His first book of poems entitled, “The Small Plot Beside the Ventriloquist’s Grave” (http://bit.ly/1nINpwn) was published by Sock Monkey Press in 2012. A second book of poems by Terence, entitled “Still Something Rattles,” is slotted to be published soon. He currently produces a storytelling series in South Slope called “How to Build a Fire” at Open Source Gallery on the last Thursday of every month. His poems have been published in Press 53 magazine, The Broadkill Review, The Other Herald, The Occupy Wall Street Poetry Anthology, pif Magazine, The Front Weekly, and the Birmingham Arts Journal. He is one of the co-curators of Poets Settlement Reading/Poetry Series in Brooklyn. He lives in Park Slope with his wife and daughter.
