Graduation time is upon us again. And the GREEKS are celebrating! How do you represent your GREEK? What does GREEK mean to you? Greek life means different things to different people. Want to go to an event where you could see Greek Unity and diversity from all walks of Greek life? Then you want to be at LatinosNYC’s “Rep Your Greek” Open Mic featuring Nefertiti Star & Siddy Beez, this Saturday, June 27, 2015, 6:30pm at the Nuyorican Poets’ Café.

All Greeks and non-Greeks are welcome! Come and spit a few poems at the Open Mic — sing, rap, story-tell, make the people laugh — do whatever you’d like to celebrate your GREEK on the mic! Or, just sit back and enjoy the show! (get there early to sign up for the Open Mic)

Hosted by one of NYC’s hottest event hosts, John “Chance” Acevedo.

What started out as an interest in attending and participating in live performance arts events, gradually shifted into Raul and the LatinosNYC board members curating shows of their own. Momentum on their side, it all eventually morphed into a vehicle that could be used to empower, serve and share with others. A labor of need had also become a labor of love – of excitement – of possibilities – and more.

LatinosNYC always has a monthly event that includes an Open Mic; always held at the Nuyorican Poets’ Café. How does LatinosNYC’s events and Open Mics differ from the other Open Mics in NYC? They offer shows to benefit the needy of NYC and all around. The monies collected (what comes in from the door and donations from the audience) from their events go towards serving the community: feeding the homeless, supporting the needy, and growing the community.
