BarrioPoetiX’s upcoming free open mic with spoken word poetry feature, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 7:00pm, features writer, teacher, poet and VONA/Voices alumna, Vanessa Mártir at the historical La Marqueta marketplace in East Harlem.
BarrioPoetiX is helping to build a community through Poetry, Music, and ART — FREE! every Thursday in August & September at La Marqueta in East Harlem. Mariposa Fernandez curates and hosts BarrioPoetiX with featured poets/artists and a FREE Open Mic, in hopes to revive the community with the great ART that exists there.
Check out what BarrioPoetiX is and why it needs YOUR SUPPORT to keep the ARTS in the community. ART is EVERYWHERE. YOU just have to look for it and become a part of it by showing up to LIVE it!

“BarrioPoetiX is part of La Marqueta Retoña, an initiative to revive the social and cultural elements of the historical site of La Marqueta, in El Barrio NYC through the arts, poetry, music and community activities.
Supported by NYC Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito in collaboration with the Acacia Network.
A community Open Mic for poets with special guest hosts and amazing featured poets/artists. Open Mic signup: 7:00pm. Open Mic and Feature: 7:30pm to 9:40pm. Networking…Connecting… Community building and out by 10pm.”
