Spoken Word Poetry lovers are invited to The Saltwater and Lime Book Release Party & Open Mic @ The Nuyorican Poets’ Café, Saturday, April 8, 2017, 7:00pm – 9:00pm. The Nuyorican Poets’ Café welcomes spoken word artist, poet, Jossie Ortiz (aka “Temptress Ecanus”) as she proudly presents her poetry chapbook Saltwater & Lime: A Synopsis of Make Believe & Heartache. “Temptress Ecanus” will be hosting an evening of Spoken Word and Poetry readings from the pages of this profound book.
Saltwater & Lime offers the reader true insight into the mind of poet, Jossie Ortiz and allows us to join her in her journey through love, loss, sexuality, enlightenment, empowerment, acceptance, and growth. If you are a true fan of the art of poetry, this is a book any poetry lover or would-be poetry lover may learn from and love.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Saltwater and Lime was birthed from a place of psychological stress after a conflicting situation(ship). Saltwater and Lime contains fifteen unrated poems ranging from anger, heartache, erotica, and denial. As well as, the joys and pains of being in love.
The Saltwater and Lime Book Release Party is not only to get the art community together to celebrate The Work that is put into the art of writing; it will be given to use the art of spoken word/poetry in the struggle to protect and defend the rights to be openly who we are as human beings.

“Temptress Ecanus” writes for the silent; The LGBTQ community, non-binary woman, transgendered woman, black woman, Afro-Latinx woman, Latina Woman, Cisgender Woman, feminist woman. Overall, ANYBODY that identifies as Woman, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, culture or morals. She writes for anyone who has had to deny their own ideologies to be accepted. She writes for equality.
“Temptress Ecanus” dedicates this event to the LGBTQ community, Sisterhood, Empowerment, Sexuality, Sensuality and Self-love.
Along with the book signing and readings, Saltwater and Lime will also be offering an Open Mic for the evening. Throughout the night, Spoken Word artists and Poets will be encouraged to recite their own works and share their joys and passions for poetry. Family and friends are all welcomed to join in and celebrate this joyous occasion.
