ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
El DAVÍD

El DAVÍD is a spoken word artist, music producer, author, visual artist, community advocate, director of World Music band, Machete Movement, and Co-Founder of ELKAT Productions, an independent artist production company.
His literary works include poetry book, “America’s Brainchild”, and several works included in “Me No Hablo with Acento”, an anthology edited by Emanuel Xavier; and “The Bandana Republic” – an anthology edited by Luis Reyes Rivera and Bruce George.
His latest poetry book, released Spring of 2015, “Art of Words – The Poetry of El DAVÍD”, is available on iTunes and on his website. (see links below)
As an artist and music producer, El DAVÍD has released two Rap albums, “Adult Guntemperhairy Musesick 4 Da Streets” and “Sedition”; a New Age album titled, “Rebirth”, a collaboration with New Age author, Bob Mandel. He has also released the poetry albums, “Legendary”, by Emanuel Xavier; and “America’s Brainchild”, a spoken word with music album by El David.
El DAVÍD also performed in and produced Bomba music albums, “Aqui Tambien” by Segunda Quimbamba and “Viejos Tiempos” by Cimmarones.
As the director of Machete Movement, El DAVÍD is the composer and producer of the albums, “Post No Bills” and “Roots In Concrete”, and also composed works, performed on and produced the Machete Movement charity album, “Smokin’ Word”, a collection featuring some of NYC’s best spoken word artists to benefit No More Deaths, a humanitarian organization providing aid for people crossing the U.S. Mexico Border.
El DAVÍD co-hosts a monthly open mic series called, “Smokin’ Word Open Mic” with Co-Director Katalina, held on the THIRD THURSDAY of each month at The South of France in the Bronx. (1800 Westchester Ave. – corner of Beach Ave.)
El was a featured artist in the Full Circle Ensemble’s sold out theatre production “From The Page To The Stage” and “Misconceptions” — both productions performed at the legendary National Black Theatre in Harlem.
He is currently a member of Latanya DeVaughn’s Sunday Writing Circle and Full Circle Ensemble NYC, working on his third theatrical production as a featured artist.
