ABOUT THE FEATURE, Passion NoLastNecessary:
Passion NoLastNecessary. Why is there no last name necessary? Because the first name speaks volumes and is well suited for this Bronx native. Passion is an entertainer extraordinaire wearing many hats which include, but are not limited to spoken word artist, actor, singer, songwriter, event coordinator/host, assistant director, and now playwright/screenwriter; having penned her first production, “The Other Forty.” After a 2-year hiatus, Passion reemerged on the spoken word scene in 2013, taking first place in a talent showcase as well as launching and hosting the successful open mic/live band showcase, A Night of Passion. Simultaneously, she made her first acting appearance in over 10 years and has since then been in 8 successful stage plays, a Webseries – whose first season just concluded and a minor role in a feature film.
In 2014, Passion released her sophomore album, “Bruised But Not Broken: Healing Starts With A Conversation” (available on iTunes, Google Play and every online media outlet). With group therapy as the setting, Passion acts as the moderator, prompting the participants to discuss issues that are plaguing too many who are suffering in silence but fail to realize, simply talking about what’s hurting them would jump start their healing process. The therapy session is masterfully interwoven with spoken word pieces that correspond to the respective conversations, almost as though each piece was inspired by the session. Wanting no dust to settle on her message or her mission, Passion is currently creating the one-woman theatrical version of “Bruised But Not Broken,” while simultaneously working on album three which will canvas the more intimate side of relationships.
Let’s just say, if you’ve heard the poem, “Discernment”, you’ve gotten a tip-of-the-iceberg preview. As Passion’s performing resume grows, her appetite and love for performing grow equally. Passion’s motto is, “As long as I’m cast for it, the role is relevant; size of the part is of immaterial.” Indeed.
See Passion in her sequel roll in Unequally Yoked – An Inspirational Comedic Stage Play By Lynette J. Blackwell this coming April 2016 @ The Dothan Opera House in Dothan, AL.
Call up some friends, or come alone. You, Open Mic fans out there: step up to the mic and heat it up with some spoken word, poetry, singing, storytelling, or rapping that you’d like to share. Or, just relax and enjoy the sounds, stories, laid back atmosphere, and creativity while enjoying your complimentary drink!
