ABOUT THE PLAY GROWING UP GONZALES:
Growing Up Gonzales June 2017 flyer
GROWING UP GONZALES is a comedy with drama in two acts. It’s the story of two brothers in search of each other. It’s a play about brotherly love and forgiveness.

When 49-year-old Johnny Gonzales (played by Andres “Chulisi” Rodriguez) is forced to clean out his estranged deceased brother Cisco’s apartment, he stumbles upon Cisco’s secret memoirs. Touched by these stories of their past, Johnny decides to share them with the rest of the world or anyone willing to listen; no matter how embarrassing they might be.

Growing up Gonzales has been entertaining audiences from all walks of life for over three years. This story crosses all cultural and ethnic lines and lands right in your heart. If you’ve ever lost a loved one, don’t miss Growing Up Gonzales.” (source taken from Growing Up Gonzales)

“This play hits home. I did this play 2 years ago for 7 months, for a month and a half in March till April 2017, and now in June, July, and August 2017. It hits home because of the similarities it has with my own life. I play 2 brothers. One is an addict (which I used to be). The other brother is soft and book smart; he wants to be loved and always a part of.
Why this role? I do it because this story needs to be told. I need to bring to life: the honor of what it is to have a sibling that you can no longer feel; to miss a sibling and think of them to a point that you start to become reacquainted with them; that there may be someone in the audience that can heal from this story. Maybe they can actually get the courage to heal and make amends with a sibling.“- Chulisi
