Educator, Writer, Performance Poet Vanessa Chica Ferreira is a New York City Educator, Writer, and Performance Poet. She is a lover and supporter of all things creative. She began sharing her poetry in 2013 at the Poets Passage in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This frightening yet liberating decision has led to a whirlwind of creative endeavors. Vanessa Chica has been featured at The Smokin Word, Urban Juke Joint, Capicu Cultural Showcase, Word@4F, The Nuyorican Poets’ Café, and The Bronx Museum. She has performed at The National Black Theatre in poetic theatrical shows “From the Page to the Stage,” “Misconceptions,” and Misconceptions Too,” produced in part by The Sunday Writing Circle/ The Full Circle Ensemble. In addition, she was a panelist for “Mujeres at the Mic,” bringing the Nuyorican experience, at The Association of Writers held in Los Angeles (2016).
She published her first poetry book, The Girl With The Smile (March 2016).

In December 2017, she performed [her story], her spoken word poetry, in her co-created movement LIVE BIG GIRL — which inspires women to LIVE BIG and to see their beauty and worth – whether you are a size 2 or a size 20 – and to overcome a distorted body image. The three-woman, poetic, theatrical performance show, written and performed by Karina G. As of February 2018, she is currently co-facilitating her brand’s Live Big Girl “LIVE BIG Writing Workshop,” which welcomes all writers and non-writers, men, women, and youth – who are interested in thinking body-positivity and living BIG throughout their lives – to meet bi-weekly (February 11, 2018 – April 29, 2018 – Live Big Writing Workshop per session classes still available), Sunday afternoons, 12-2 pm to release and heal through writing; to share their stories of how they are living BIG and taking a stand against the critics while reclaiming the beautiful beings that they are; and to create and find new ways to reach your living big dreams and goals.
