Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 6:30pm, come celebrate NaPoWriMo @ the “ONE MIC” Open Mic dedicated to NYC Poets, Writers, friends, family, fans and all lovers of Poetry at the National Black Theatre in Harlem.
In honor of National Poetry Month, NYC Open Mic curators join together under one roof on April 11th at The National Black Theater in Harlem for “One Mic.” Some of NYC’s curators have put together this event to welcome ALL artists to come out and celebrate THE ART of POETRY. “One Mic” invites writers, poets and lovers of poetry to come out and share the “One Mic” with fellow poets. Step up to the mic and share your poetry along with your favorite poet or a poet you’re soon to become a fan of. Network – connect – see old friends – meet new friends – and talk about poetry.
Hosted by award-winning Artist Tai Allen. (read his interview with SWNY by clicking his name.)
The “One Mic” Open Mic will be available for novice writers and veterans to USE YOUR VOICE and share your work. Each person will be allotted 3-minutes for reciting a poem, rhyming, singing, storytelling… It’s whatever you want to do. As long as you respect the mic…and don’t drop the mic! All there is, is “One Mic!”
Come out and share in the celebration of National Poetry Month with your poetic peers. There will be Vendors – food and beverages will be for sale.
Another great reason to come out and mingle among your poetic peers will be to ban together to support “No More Deaths.” A portion of ticket sales will be given to the “No More Deaths” organization. For more information: www.nomoredeaths.org
In the house will be curators and facilitators from The Full Circle Ensemble, Machete Movement, Sneakers and Ale, Word@4F, Areito Live, Open Moments, Creative Vibes, The Poets Settlement and More!
A few Poets planning to come through are:
Danny Matos, Andres “Chulisi” Rodriguez, EL David, Katalina Rodriguez, Laura O, Lloyd Lawrence, Rashawna Wilson, Karina G. Lopez, Rebeca Lois, Vanessa Chica, Shafina Ahmed, Sammy Samson Maldonado, and MANY MORE!
